Look here fam, watching porn is not bad. It has for many years been considered as a form of entertainment. But hey, it gets terrifying when porn becomes an addiction. When you can’t help but crave for porn all the time. That ain’t cool. 

Knowing the symptoms to porn addiction is key towards dealing with it. These begin to manifest when you are largely consumed with thoughts on explicit pornographic content even when you are not watching, losing track of time when watching porn and failing to quite. 

 

So here are our ways you can deal with porn addiction.

  1. Accept that you have a problem. Straight up, the sooner you acknowledge that you have a porn addiction problem, the better. This is always the start of the recovery process. It helps one to be intentional in seeking help. 

  2. Talk to a buddy. If anything should comfort you now, it is the fact that you are not alone. There are so many people out there battling the addiction. The sooner you get someone to confide in, the better. Find someone you can comfortably talk to about your sexuality.

  3. If not from a buddy, try a peer educator. Don’t be shy to confront addiction. Talk to a counsellor or peer educator. It gives you insight into the proven impacts of porn. The health specialist makes it easy for you to weigh the benefits of quitting porn visa-vi the opposite.

  4. Be your life’s driver. Tell you what buddy, we are responsible for what happens on our smartphones. How you use your gargets is entirely dependant on you. Create a self-moderated template to counter your addiction. Understand that every addiction cannot be fought overnight, it is a deliberate move that has multiple steps. Consider scheduling your watching module. 

  5. Try online Applications. We live in the 21st century and for every problem, there is, someone out there has thought about and designed a software program or application to solve it. Remember, for everything you have ever wanted, chances are high that it is already on Google. There is an app as you read this on the play store or apple store, that is tailor-made for your problem. Try Covenant Eyes for example. 

  6. Find the trigger. It is important for you to identify what pushes you to watch porn. Triggers to porn include boredom, anger, resentment and feeling unloved or unappreciated. The deferences even widen with gender but this helps to eliminate the weak spots hence gradually contributing to the fight.

  7. Destroy Destroy Destroy.  You are not fighting with anyone but your own conscience. Trash all pornographic material in your possession including magazines and photos. 

  8. Rather imagine. To think of it pals, the largest sexual organ is the brain. It is there that sexual intercourse is initiated. If you feel genuinely sexy, rather than diminishing your imagination by passively watching porn, learn to fantasize rather than actively having sex. Gradually you will forget about porn. 

  9. Don’t blame others. Your partner is not being sexual, sexy or not having sex with you should not be a reason to watch porn.  It is entirely dependant on you. Accept that it is your fault and seek your partner’s involvement in your healing process. 

  10. Always get back up. Beating porn addiction is not easy. You will stumble and relapse. But when you feel like the addiction is overpowering you don’t give up.  

Whether it is once a week, or twice a month, find what works for you. Do not strain if you fall short, it happens. Just try hard to monitor your self because, in the end, it is for your own good.
