Save the Children International is currently recruiting for the WASH Market Officer – Maternity Cover at our Regional Office in Moroto. The WASH Market Officer will be responsible for improving household and community access to WASH products and services in project-supported geographies. The position will also identify and mentor WASH-related businesses within his/her districts of responsibility. The staff will be responsible for developing and conducting market and business training, monitoring business performance, and will provide strategic direction and technical management for the planning and implementation of WASH-related project activities. The position will ensure the quality and documentation of key WASH market-related interventions and approaches. The position will be responsible for ensuring all deliverables related to WASH marketing activities are delivered in a timely fashion and key lessons learned and best practices captured.
To be successful in this role, you will have/bring the following:
- A bachelor’s qualification in a discipline related to Social Product Marketing, Social and Behavior Change Communication (SBCC), business, or similar. The experience could substitute for a formal qualification, but not vice versa.
- At least 3+ years of direct experience in Social Marketing or Social and Behavior Change Communication preferably focused on health or hygiene.
- Demonstrated experience working with small businesses to improve business practices and messaging, or with community groups to change behavior
- Strong organizational skills, including the ability to meet deadlines and priorities work.
- Strong communication and coordination skills
- Demonstrated ability to work in a complex, multi-intervention health development program in collaboration with national health ministries and international partners.
- Demonstrated experience managing staff and budgets across a large geographic area
- Specific experience in CLTS and WASH marketing highly desired
- Prior experience working in the Karamoja sub-region highly desired
- Prior experience working with USAID funded projects highly desired
- Willingness to be based in the Karamoja sub-region, with frequent travel to communities and between districts
- Excellent interpersonal and communication skills, including the ability to work effectively with a diverse team of staff HQ and field-based partners and counterparts
- Commitment to producing high-quality program deliverables on time and under budget
- Excellent writing skills
- English fluency (verbal and written) required
