The post of Principal is a senior management position in THE University created to provide leadership to a College of Makerere University.

Mode of application

Job description The Principal is the chief administrative, academic and financial officer of the College and is responsible to the Senate and the University Council for promoting and maintaining academic excellence, efficiency and order of the College.

The person eligible for appointment as Principal should possess the following minimum attributes:

(i) Hold a PhD or other academic Doctorate;

(ii) Be at least of the rank of Associate Professor at the time of application;

(iii) Four (4) years managerial experience in an institution of higher learning or a reputable research institution with a track record of having served at least as a Head of an academic department or an Academic Programmes Coordinator or a Research Project Manager;

(iv) Teaching experience of at least six (6) years in one of the disciplines offered in the College he/she intends to lead;

(v) Applicants who are at the rank of Associate Professor should not be above 61 years at the time of application;

(vi) Applicants who are at the rank of Professor should not be above 66 years at the time of application;

(vii) Applicants must have demonstrable experience in networking, research and resource mobilisation; and,

(viii) Be a citizen of Uganda
