After the devastating loss of Chester Beddington, the lead singer of the award winning rock band Linkin Park, this week, we’ve decided it’s about time we stop beating around the bush and start talking about depression anywhere, at any time and with whoever!

The topic of depression is SO overlooked in our society but we just can’t understand why?! It’s the second leading cause of death among people aged 15 to 29 years and just in Northern Uganda alone, three out of ten Ugandans suffer from depression, meaning that they wake up every morning feeling downhearted and gloomy (think about that) in our opinion, depression urgently needs some serious attention and consideration in schools, health institutions and in the family home, if we’re gonna tackle this issue head on!

Understanding if you’re suffering from depression can be a tough cookie to crack, we mean you could be feeling so moody and sad for a week and then “surprise” mother nature pops by and answers all your questions! But for real though, if you start feeling low for long periods of time and you just can’t understand why then we would suggest you tell your friends or a family member or just book yourself into the docs and discuss it with them!

I suppose now you’re thinking “easier said than done”, trust us we get it, we understand how hard it can be to open your family and friends with the fear that they might not take you seriously. So, with that in mind, we’ve found a link that you can follow which shall take you to a website which can tell you if you’re showing any of the warning signs of depression. This won’t give you a diagnosis but it will help you decide the next step! Take The Quick Depression/Anxiety Test

Please don’t ever feel ashamed to admit you suffer from depression! As soon as you admit you suffer this condition, the faster you will be able to seek help and recover. The past generations have made depression a taboo topic but WE are the leading generation and it’s about time we put an end to depression taking a back seat in both global health discussions and even during form time at school! If we don’t begin discussing depression then it’ll remain on the backburner and the people suffering depression won’t receive the help and support they truly deserve.

Plus there’s so much help out there just waiting for you to grab with both hands! There’s antidepressants, these tablets which have shown strong evidence to make you feel boss again or professional people to talk to, who spend their lives offering people advice on how to fight this selfish condition! You’ve just gotta be brave enough to admit you need support

If you feel you are going through depression, we got you. Just call or text WhatsApp doctor today.
