Education and Experience profile:
- A MB.Ch.B. or its equivalent from a recognized University
- A M.Med. in General Surgery, Oncological Surgery (or its equivalent) or Orthopedics with pediatric competencies
- Must be registered (or meet the requirements for registration, if currently working abroad) to the Ugandan Medical and Dental Practitioners Council
- Minimum of nine (9) years of work experience in any area related to Pediatric Surgery .
Responsibilities
The Consultant of Pediatric Surgery & Orthopedic will be mainly involved in the care and treatment of pediatric surgical patients within the subunit and whereas they will be admitted, but they will also be called to contribute to the ward and department guard shift and take part in the work shift in the OPD Clinics belonging to the Unit. The Consultant autonomously performs advanced surgical procedures; they report daily to the Chief of Unit about the most recent or serious cases and procedures in the sub-unit/ward. The Consultant will attend periodic meetings with the Chief of the Unit, pediatricians, oncologists, radiologists, other surgeons, anesthetists, and other specialists to evaluate which procedures perform for the different patients belonging to the Unit. The Consultant will have outstanding clinical and teaching skills. Finally, they will apply all the procedures to minimize the risk of infections in accordance with Infection Prevention and Control Service and Quality & Safety Department.
