Scenario; Bae comes over without a condom and you already made plans. A well anticipated time stands on the brink of fading. The good news is, there is a way of saving the day. By now, you must have heard of the word ‘femidom’. If not, let’s break it down for ya.

It stands for a female condom, the latex material meant to be worn by girl or a woman to protect against Sexually Transmitted Diseases and unprepared for pregnancies. That said, we think we need to give you some key facts about the female condom that should be able to shine some light on it. Perhaps, it could just become your new fav contraceptive method.

You can insert the female condom waaayy ahead of time. With it, you have all the time to prepare and avoid any mistakes. For example, how is 8 hours gettin’ jiggy? You guessed right, you can have it on for all that time and it will still serve you, as loyal as ever.

You can use only one condom at a time; It is not necessary to use a female and male condom at the same time. Protection doesn’t need protection.

If you have any reaction to contraception, the use of a female condom should be the least of your worries. Unlike birth control, the female condom does not have an effect on any woman’s natural hormones.

With typical use (which is the laywoman’s kind of use that may have a number of mistakes), the female condom is about 75-82%. However, when used effectively and correctly, the female condom is 95% effective.

Hi Daphne! Thanks for sharing this with your peeps!
If they don’t feel convinced, then you can ask them to choose any other contraceptive they feel is good for them. You can even direct them to Sauti Senga to cast their doubts to us. We shall dispel them.
